Nokia release new Series 60 phone in USA

Nokia have launched the 6620, the first smartphone available for use on the new high-speed EDGE networks in America. Running Symbian Series 60 OS, it's designed as a business handset but with the "fun" of a multimedia device.

Sendo X gets Voice Signal's advanced voice recognition software

Sendo and Voice Signal have teamed up to provide Voice Signal's voice recognition software on the Sendo X. The software includes the Voice-Activated Phonebook which allows users to dial a number just by saying the name, without having to train the phone first. Series 60 applications can also be opened by voice command, which allows easier hands-free, eyes-free use of the handset.

Try and buy sofware with Addit from palmOne

palmOne have released an application that provides Palm and smartphone users with information on new software and allows them to try or buy it. Addit has a database of available software which can be selected to either try or buy, and the transaction is completed during the next HotSync.

OPL Programming Language Updated for Symbian OS

The OPL-Dev team behind OPL (the Open Programming Language) for Symbian OS are delighted to announce the availability of version 0.30 of both the Runtime and SDK's for Series 60 devices. OPL is a high level language ideally suited for Enterprise, RAD and those new to programming.
